ITV’s Trigger Point is a popular crime thriller television series starring Vicky McClure as police bomb disposal expert, Lana Washington. It follows Lana as she uses her skills to counter terrorist threats in the Metropolitan Police bomb squad.
During filming of Series 4, we were approached by the production team to provide lorry tension curtains for a key action sequence in the opening episode.
The challenge
For the latest series of ITV’s Trigger Point, the production team required a set of lorry tension curtains for use in a key action scene in Series 4, Episode 1.
The scene involved a lorry carrying a concealed explosive device, with the main character – Explosives Officer Lana Washington – attempting to locate and defuse the bomb by cutting through the side of the curtain to gain access to the load.
As the lorry tension curtain played a key part in this tense action scene, the production team needed a set of curtains that could provide an authentic look on camera, as well as be suitable for the physical demands of the scene.
So, they approached Structure-flex for help.
The solution
With more than five decades’ experience manufacturing lorry tension curtains and other thermoplastic products for unique projects like this, we were well suited to the production’s needs.
We supplied four lorry tension curtain panels for use during filming, which provided a genuine, professionally manufactured product rather than a prop designed to replicate a commercial curtain.
The panels were manufactured using the same specialist processes and materials used across our commercial transport range, helping the production achieve the level of authenticity required for the scene.
The results
All four panels were used during the filming of Trigger Point and featured in the opening episode of Series 4.
Amanda George, Set Decorator, said: “Thank you so much for your help and patience with us over our curtain panels – all went really well and they did actually use all four of them!”
